Radio 1 (@BBCR1) & 1Xtra (@1Xtra) ‘Take it On’ intern scheme is now open!

If a career in media is what you’re striving for and want to get some hands on professional experience this might be for you.

Calling all creative individuals with a love of music, radio, youth culture and all things digital - the ‘Take It On’ paid internship scheme has two rounds this year, the first being July 7th - August 29th and October 13th - December 5th. You’ll be working across a range of departments from live events to programme teams.

It’s an excellent way to build on your media knowledge while undoubtedly learning a lot more on the way. During your internship you’ll be given a mentor that’ll help you along the way. At the start of your internship you’ll be given a research brief to work on throughout your stay at the station. There will be a range of people on deck to support you as you develop this brief before you have to present it to senior management. Look at it as a chance to dazzle and impress people you could be working for down the line.

Ideally, you’ll be someone who has a good knowledge of the current Radio 1 & 1Xtra schedule and programme and will have a good understanding of how content and different technologies help build the stations relationship with their audience.

We’ve only just touched the surface of what the opportunity offers, to get the full low down and to apply visit the website. Applicants must be 18+ and the deadline for applications is Monday April 7th

Please note that this internship is aimed mainly at people who are interested in the off-air operations of the station. So if you want to be a presenter don’t apply thinking you’ll be given airtime as that’s not the aim of the internship. By all means apply if you do eventually want to become a presenter but are also interested in the behind the scenes operations.

    All the best!

Music Monday: Nuez (@Nuezism) - Pathways [Instrumental Set]

This weeks Music Monday is a complete set of 6 instrumentals from producer Nuez who is part of another collective we’re digging at the moment called Southern Giants x New Age Order.

This mix from the Florida based producer, engineer and DJ (can you say triple threat!?) has quite a mellow feel to it, perhaps we’ll call this weeks addition ‘Mellow Music Monday’ instead. Obvious hip hop undertones infused with melodic melodies perfect for any given day of the week.

Favourites? Awake/Ready, Float, and NthngLeft but as a whole body of work each instrumental compliments the other - the same vibe is kept throughout making it 13:06mins of an unwavering feel good tracks.

He has definitely gained a fan in us as has Phil Sebastien a rapper who is also part of the NAO collective who we’ll feature very soon.

Happy Monday - hopefully this good music will keep you going throughout the week. What are you listening to at the moment? Let us know.

Reckon you’re good with a camera? @Autographer and @BBHLondon need you (via @Talenthouse)

Autographer is a product pushing the boundaries of the way we capture photographs. The wearable camera is the first of its kind and uses technology built by Microsoft Research to capture images when its sensors are triggered (think light, movement, temperature etc.).

Together with BBH (Bartle Bogel Hegarty) they are looking for a young innovative creative talent to assist in launching the new product and have their work featured in the official BBH print advert.

What do you need to do be a part of it I hear you ask? Submit images that support the ‘Autography not photography’ statement onto the Talenthouse website by March 5th. It’s about capturing that true-to-life, atmospheric image that allows you to re-live that moment over again.

There are a range of opportunities to be won such as receiving an Autographer to use for a month and work to a new brief and tell a story around that brief with the ultimate prize being your work featured in the official BBH print advert as well as exposure through Autographer and BBH’s social platforms.

Have a look at what Autographer can do in this video below.

Head over to the creative brief on Talenthouse (here) to get more information and to enter.
